Step Up allocation instructions

(Discovery/Transition Students)

Because your child is in one of our younger programs (Discovery or Transition), Step Up administers funding via the Marketplace by leveraging an alternate billing method called “part-time tutoring” to obtain your child’s funds, which will then be applied to your child’s tuition account. When your child moves into Pre-K or Kindergarten, the process will change.

Your action is required on a quarterly basis in order to use these funds. You will need to “reserve” your funds first to send to the CEC. We cannot do this for you.

‼️ Please note: if your scholarship has not yet been “Funded”, you will not be able to complete the steps below yet. If your scholarship still says “Awarded”, please check the EMA portal periodically until the status changes from “Awarded” to “Funded.” 

How this process works

  1. Parents request their child’s funds via the portal using the steps below
  2. School invoices Step Up for the amount
  3. Step Up sends the funds to the school
  4. We credit your tuition account

⚠️ IMPORTANT: please follow the instructions before the end of each quarter. Failure to do so may result in delays or limits on how much funding you can use towards tuition ⚠️

2026-27 Quarterly Deadlines

  • Quarter 1: November 7, 2026
  • Quarter 2: January 21, 2027
  • Quarter 3: March 30, 2027
  • Quarter 4: June 1, 2027

Step by step instructions

Please be sure to complete this process once per quarter according to the dates listed above.

  1. Log into the Portal: Start by logging into the EMA Scholarship Portal
  2. Click Marketplace
  3. Select “Find Providers”: Click on the “Find Providers” option in the Marketplace.
  4. Select your child’s name in the drop-down box on the next screen.
  5. Locate our school: Type The Shul’s Child Enrichment Center in the search box. Please type in the full name exactly as it appears here.
    • Please note: you may need to scroll all the way to the right in order to see the search box. Click on our school when it appears in the search results.
  6. Select our location.
  7. Select a quantity. Select a quantity of 1 (this will be your funding for 1 full quarter)
  8. Click “Add to Cart”
  9. To finalize, click the cart icon at the top of the page to reserve your funds and follow the prompts.

Please be sure to complete the steps above as soon as possible. Once this is done, we will be able to invoice Step Up for the correct amount and adjust your tuition account accordingly.
